Jefferson County is home to 22 county owned parks and several multi-use trails spread-out through the County for the public to enjoy. The Jefferson County Parks Department strives to preserve natural resources for public use and conservation as well as promote the health and wellness of our communities. We operate and maintains a parks system with resource-oriented recreation, trails, and special use parks. We also manage the grounds keeping and grounds improvements for the county’s multiple buildings and campuses.
In order to maintain a high standard of operation, the department is looking to hire a part-time Administrative Assistant to perform administrative and clerical support while providing excellent customer service and completing the below key tasks and responsibilities:
Performs general office support including preparation of correspondences, press releases, brochures, maps, and other documents, as well as filing and maintaining records.
Answers telephones and gives information to callers; takes messages or transfers calls to appropriate individuals. Greets the public, answers general questions, processes mail, and orders supplies.
Provides excellent customer service to the public, other staff, and contacts with other County departments.
Receives complaints, injury notifications, and non-registration concerns regarding the County Dog Park and discerns whether to address the issues directly or report to the Director.
Manages park shelter reservations, group meetings, and special permit requests and responds to questions appropriately.
Receives and processes annual dog tags.
Assists with input of staff job sheets in MUNIS.
Assists with coordinating and hosting Parks special events and fundraising.
Assists with bookkeeping functions, including accounts receivables and payables.
Provides back up for the Parks Program Assistant.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Starting Wage: $16.56/hour; 16-19 hours/week
Qualifications we are looking for:
High school diploma or equivalent with one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Associate degree preferred.
