Job Description:

Jefferson County’s Youth Justice Team is part of the Human Services Department and provides ongoing case management for youth on Juvenile Delinquency orders, Juveniles in Need of Protection or Services (JIPS) orders, Consent Decrees, Deferred Prosecution Agreements, as well as voluntary cases. While fulfilling their duties, the team recognizes the dignity of each and every youth and has moved away from the punitive “mini adult” probation model and provides a trauma informed approach to service delivery.

The team is looking to hire a Youth Justice Worker that will contribute to their goals and values by providing service coordination, safety and restorative justice services, and treatment to youth adjudicated under State Law as delinquent or under informal agreements, and to their families. This position will also provide assessment, case planning, case management, and incentives to the entire family while continuously assessing and accounting for community safety.

As a caring, compassionate, and attentive Youth Justice Worker, you will be successful in completing the following key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Perform full assessments for court attached youth to determine risk level, protective factors, and criminogenic needs that are driving their involvement in the youth justice system
  • Provide Functional Family Case Management services
  • Provide accurate and timely record keeping of State required documentation including but not limited to: legal actions, court reports, permanency plans, administrative reviews, judicial reviews, Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS), Targeted Case Management (TCM), youth justice case plans, progress notes, and case closures, as well as, non-state required information
  • Supervise court orders and provides court services by preparing and presenting reports to the court. Participate in hearings and proceedings including giving testimony.
  • Advocate for clients and families in coordinating needed services and providing appropriate referrals to available resources including legal, academic, medical, community programs, and multi-disciplinary county programs
  • Variety of other tasks needed and explained on the posted job description

Starting wage/hours: $24.66/hour, 40 hours/week; upon the completion of necessary trainings and based on performance may have opportunity for promotion to Youth Justice Worker II, starting at $26.59/hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Two years’ experience
  • WI Certification in Social Work, preferred
