Job Description:

Jefferson County is home to 22 county owned parks and several trails, spread-out through the County’s 373,000 acres, for the public to enjoy as our Parks Department strives to preserve natural resources for public use and conservation. The Parks department operates and maintains a parks system with resource oriented recreation, trails, and special use parks. They also expand the parks system for environmental and land use benefits, as well as, for the health and enjoyment of Jefferson County residents and others. 

In order to maintain high quality parks, the department is looking to hire a summer worker that is experienced, dedicated, and passionate about our Parks system to assist with the below tasks:

 

  • Operating vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws
  • Caring for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming, and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls
  • Mixing, spraying, and spreading fertilizers, herbicides, and/or insecticides on grass, shrubs, and trees
  • Completing general service on equipment including sharpening, greasing, oil changes, and general repairs and replacements
  • Providing proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
  • Providing janitorial services in all county parks shelters, restrooms, and buildings.

Starting Summer Wages of $15/hour; Opportunity for 40+ hours/week from mid-May through mid-August

Qualifications:

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with some building and grounds maintenance experience including driving, trucks, trailers, and operating equipment
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, required
  • One to two years related experience and/or training, preferred.
