Job Description:

Jefferson County’s Workforce Development Center (WDC) is part of the Human Services Department and provides Jefferson County residents with a variety of services including: Financial Assistance Programs, Job Service, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA), also known as, the WORKSMART program. The center partners with the Community Action Coalition, Goodwill Industries, Salvation Army, Food Pantries, Faith Based Organizations, St. Vincent de Paul, local school districts, and local employers to help our residents who are low income, faced with an economic setback, and/or need additional financial support as they are working toward greater self-sufficiency.

The WDC needs an Administrative Assistant that has excellent communication, multi-tasking, and attention to detail skills that will provide administrative and clerical support to the staff and programs offered at WDC.   

As an efficient and effective Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Greeting the public, answering general questions accurately, processing mail, and ordering supplies.
  • Answering telephones and giving information to callers, as well as, taking messages and transferring calls appropriately.
  • Creating, maintaining, and entering information into the appropriate databases.
  • Setting up and managing paper and/or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, and maintaining documents.
  • Operating office equipment
  • Variety of other tasks listed on the posted job description

Starting wage: $14.49/hour; 40 hours/week with full benefits:

Qualifications:

Qualifications Needed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year general office experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree or two years’ general office experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
