Job Description:

The Jefferson County Human Services Department Emergency Mental Health team provides mental health and substance use crisis services for anyone residing in Jefferson County. 

As a compassionate and caring team member, you would complete the below responsibilities:

  • Conduct crisis assessments
  • Responds to clients with Mental Health and Substance use needs.
  • Arrange for necessary resources and supports
  • Counsels families, victims, and witnesses, specifically crisis situations and serves as consumer advocate.
  • Monitors, evaluates, adjusts, and records client’s treatment goals progress.
  • Works closely with schools, law enforcement, licensed facilities, and other community entities
  • Prepare reports that are in compliance with federal and state law as well as County policies and procedures
  • Variety of other tasks and responsibilities

Starting Wage = $27.38/hour; 40 hours per week

We offer high quality training in evidence-based practices in a supportive work culture.   The preferred hours for this position are 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.


Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Social Work, or closely related field
  • Valid driver’s license, Emergency Mental Health, Juvenile Court Intake Worker, and Motivational Interviewing trainings/certifications

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Master’s degree and/or two years’ experience with Licensed Social Worker
  • Substance Abuse Counseling licenses, and Trauma Informed Care training
