Jefferson County Health Department offers the pregnant Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program to promote and maintain the health and well-being of nutritionally at-risk pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children. The program provides supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition and breastfeeding information, and referral to other health and nutrition services, as well as, promotes and supports breastfeeding by having Breastfeeding Peer Support Counselors available to eligible participants.
In order to keep the WIC program operating smoothly, the Health Department is looking to hire an Occasional Part-time WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to serve as a paraprofessional support person who provides basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
As a knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate individual, you will be successful in this role by completing the below key tasks and responsibilities:
Starting Wage: $15.00/hour Hours: Part-time; approximately 10 hours/week
