The Health Department is currently hiring a Public Health Nurse to provide a variety of professional public health nursing services to residents of Jefferson County.

As a passionate, organized, and knowledgeable Public Health Nurse, you will be successful in completing the below key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assess individuals and families through interviews, observations, and examinations in home, school, office, and clinic settings in order to provide nursing services, establish care plans, and refer residents to County services
  • Provide variety of nursing services and education including pregnancy tests, mental health injections, substance abuse support, tuberculosis (TB) skin tests, immunizations, Well Child physicals, fluoride dental varnish, hearing and vision screenings and referral to other community resources
  • Provide Maternal Child Health services to pregnant women and families with young children to promote healthy pregnancy, provide breastfeeding support and developmental screening and guidance
  • Conduct Communicable Disease Investigation and follow-up
  • Provide case management for Childhood Lead Poisoning
  • Variety of other tasks as needed

Salary range:  $62,340 - $80,080, commensurate with experience.  Normal hours are typically Monday – Friday with no holidays or weekends!  Also included is an excellent County benefit package, including a current 6.5% match to the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Qualifications:

Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CPR Certification

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience with school nursing or community health nursing
  • Training or knowledge in Childhood Immunizations preferred
  • Experience providing education and outreach to community groups and partners
