Job Description:

The Human Services Department is currently hiring a Lead Custodian to perform custodial tasks to maintain a safe and clean working environment throughout facilities of Jefferson County and direct other custodial staff.

As an organized and efficient individual, you will be successful in this role by completing the below key tasks and responsibilities, with a high attention detail:

  • Oversees and completes custodial work maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.  Inspects the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis.
  • Directs and trains custodial staff. Provides checklists, assignments, updates, and special project lists for Custodians to following on a daily basis.
  • Performs regular custodial duties, operates floor cleaning and buffing machines; applies floor wax; dusts and wet mops floors, stairs and landings; picks up litter; collects garbage from containers and places in proper receptacle; scours restroom floors, walls and fixtures; replaces paper towels and toilet paper; washes windows.
  • Performs light maintenance duties; checks heating and air conditioning (HVAC) for proper operation; assists with snow removal.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or as may develop

Starting wage: $18.71/hour; 40 hours/week.

Qualifications Needed

  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or associate’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
